Common Nighthawk *
A common summer resident, April - September, found throughout the county.
Migrating flocks of over 100 have been seen.
Chuck-will’s widow *
A common summer resident, March - October, found throughout the region.
More commonly heard at dusk and dawn. These birds are difficult to see,
and never in numbers greater then one or two at a time. LCBC high count
of 1 in 1995.
Whip-poor-will
An uncommon winter visitor, October - March, found mostly in pine woods.
During March and October both chuck’s and whip’s can be
heard at the same time. LCBC high count of 3 in 1990.
