Limpkin (1)
Photo: C L Geanangel This fairly common swamp dweller is found near waterways all over the County. SCP and the Circle B Bar reserve are the current hot spots for seeing this bird. Over 30 in a day have been reported there. Limpkins eat almost exclusively apple snails, so the introduction of the much larger, exotic, Channel Apple Snail has been a great increase in the available food supply for them. The LCBC high count listed 98 in 2011. |
