Blue Jay *
A common resident throughout the region, especially suburban neighborhoods. Flocks of 50 or more jays may be found in the fall, when they migrate locally. The LCBC high count of 253 was in 1997.

Florida Scrub-Jay *
An uncommon resident of the Ridge and scrub areas. The total Polk County population is estimated at less than 500. This is the only species that nests only in Florida. The LWCBC high count of 25 was in 1987. (T)

American Crow *
A fairly common resident of the Green Swamp and large ranches. Not found in the company of Fish Crows and never in large flocks. They are almost impossible to separate from Fish Crows except by call. The LWCBC high count of 166 was in 1996.

 

Fish Crow *
An abundant resident of non rural Polk County. Wintering flocks and roosts of many thousands are often seen. Usually seen flying overhead in large flocks. The LCBC high count 32,200 was in 1989.
