Ruby-throated Hummingbird *

An uncommon resident, scarce in the winter, found lightly scattered throughout the region. Wintering hummers are difficult to identify as to species. A well maintained hummingbird feeder is helpful in observing these little guys. LWCBC high count of 6 in 1996; LCBC 6 in 2004/2005/2006/2008 and 5 in 2000.

One record in Lakeland in 1996 at the home of Joe Misiaszek.

Allen's Hummingbird

One record from Lakeland in January of 2009 at the home of Joe Misiaszek.

Rufous Hummingbird.
Only a couple of records all from Lakeland. The first was March 1976 and the last was reported in 1997.

Black-chinned Hummingbird
One positively identified at a feeder in Lakeland in 2004 CBC. Certainly more common but hard to seperate from winter ruby-throated.
